Creating Space

Creating Space

In 2019, I spent a lot of energy on what was lacking, what was missing, and what wasn’t fully formed.

In 2019, I also experienced some really lovely moments, some really honest moments, and some good self-affirming moments.

Because of 2019, this year I want to treat myself better and continue expanding my awareness.

I wish to be more intentional about giving myself grace every day.

I really want to create spaces for myself and for the people around me.

I also feel that the world needs more people who are intentionally creating spaces to heal and bring people together too.

In 2020, my phrase for the year is “creating space.”

This year, I will be…

Creating space to love.

Creating space to be silly.

Creating space for myself.

Creating space to breathe.

Creating space to make plans.

Creating space to experience joy.

Creating space to invite good fortune.

Creating space to exercise (bike, run, ski).

Creating space for a massage every once in a while.

Creating space to cry (and not feel ashamed about it).

Creating space to reminisce (and connect with loved ones).

Creating space to commit (despite fear of commitment, failure, and loss).

Creating space to do “non-productive” activities (play guitar, crochet, do arts and crafts, write).

Creating space to heal (especially from wounds from years ago that haven’t fully closed).

Creating space to work and focus (so that I don’t squander potential and opportunity).

Creating space to eat my favorite foods (jalapeño chips, kombucha, fancy yogurt, hot tea, crab cakes, mangos, french fries).

Creating space to mediate, notice, and bring awareness into my life (even though people constantly make fun of me for using these phrases haha).

This year, when I encounter adversity or a challenge, I hope to remember not to contract, cower, or freeze. Instead, I hope to remember to expand, create, and acknowledge my space and the space around us.

This year, I hope to invite more good vibes into my life and spread this positive energy with loved ones too.

What word or phrase is on your mind for this new year?
